Our Vision & Programs: True to its name, Roots & Rhythms will be a vibrant, multidisciplinary space. We are opening our doors with classical visual and performing arts, and we are rapidly expanding. Coming soon, the centre will offer regular classes and specialized workshops in:

Our Inaugural Program: To celebrate the launch of our arts centre, we are kicking things off with an exclusive, high-level visual arts workshop. We invite serious art enthusiasts and intermediate students to join our program: an intensive 2-Day Portrait and Life Workshop focusing on classical and realistic techniques.

Master the Human Form: An Intensive Mentoring Workshop
Take your understanding of portraiture and figure drawing to the professional level. Roots & Rhythms by Ragalaya_Omkaar (Trivandrum) invites serious art enthusiasts and intermediate students to a rigorous 2-Day Portrait and Life Workshop focusing on classical and realistic techniques.
The Schedule
Day 1: April 23, 2026
Session 1 : The Foundational Structure: Anatomical Portrait Study
- Focus: A deep dive into the skeletal and muscular structure of the human head.
- Technique: Graphite pencil sketch. We will focus on rendering accurate proportions, planes of the face, and value-shading based on anatomy.
Session 2 : Capturing the Spirit: Dynamic Life Drawing
- Focus: Translating the gesture, posture, and structure of a live subject.
- Technique: Full-figured live sketch. Working with charcoal and graphite pencils, students will learn to quickly map anatomy while capturing movement and weight.
Day 2: April 24, 2026 The Poetry of Light: Portrait in Watercolour
- Focus: Using color and light to create realism and depth (Chiaroscuro).
- Technique: Advanced watercolor techniques for portraiture. Students will focus on mastering watercolor application while applying the volumetric and value concepts learned in the previous two days.
- Materials we Provide: Buff papers, Camlin portrait watercolour, graphite pencils, and charcoal pencils.
- What you need to bring : Brushes, drawing board, palette, Lunch ( Drinking water will be provided at the venue)
- Registration Fees : ₹ 500 only (Including Kit)
Tuition Fees per day: ₹ 800 only per day

This is an intermediate-level Training Programme, designed to elevate your understanding of the human form.
- Age: Ideal for 15 years and above.
- Arts enthusiasts seeking serious growth.
- Anyone who loves portrait drawings.
